About Stuttgart

Stuttgart – described as the world’s biggest village – is the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg in the South. It’s a charming place, situated in the heart of one of Germany’s largest wine growing regions – with a vine culture tradition of more than a thousand years. This vibrant metropolis fascinates its visitors with its historical sights, art and culture, impressive gardens, fine squares and not forgetting the fantastic shops. To walk through this city is like taking a journey back through time, with splendid palaces and buildings with different architectural styles. The beautiful Art Nouveau Market Hall sells fresh flowers, fish, meat, fruit & veg, exotic spices everyday. Stuttgart’s traditional festivals are also very popular, there’s the Spring Festival and the elegant Summer Festival, with countless fairy lights and lanterns, make this one of Germany’s most delightful city festivals. In September there is the Stuttgart Beer Festival – one of the world’s largest and best beer festivals. The beloved Stuttgart Wine Village is also one of the largest. The city abounds with rustic beer gardens, alongside more contemporary bars and cocktail lounges. Many of these are situated in the centre of the city, with the area around Theodor-Heuss-Strasse, Wilhelmsplatz and the Hans-im-Gluck-Brunnen known as the ‘party mile’ with good reason, as the people of Stuttgart really do know how to throw a party!
Stuttgart does not really have a gayborhood as such. There are gay bars, and a lot of other bars which gay and lesbians are very welcome in, but it’s not like other German cities which have a specifically gay district. You will feel welcome here despite that. It still has its annual CSD Parade and the locals are very tolerant and accepting people. The hotels mentioned are all gay-friendly, the bars are either gay or gay-friendly and the restaurants are just great places with great food.
