About Graz

Graz is Austria’s second largest city. It’s ‘Old Town’ is one of the best preserved city centres in Europe, you can really get a feel for what it was like here 500 years ago. It is situated on the River Mur and the ‘Schlossberg’ (castle on a hill) which dominates the old town, is one of the many sights worth seeing in Graz. There are also many museums, a Theatre and The Opera House.
Due to Graz’s importance as a university city, (there are 6), Graz has a very vibrant nightlife. Austria has never really been a gay mecca, historically it has distinguished itself as being the opposite. However, times have changed, and although Graz does not have the gayscene that Vienna has, it is there to be found.
