About Cologne

Cologne is the 4th largest city in Germany and its oldest, with a 2000 year history. The people of Cologne love their city, and you can really sense this. Nowhere else are people’s ties to their city as celebrated as they are here. There are numerous attractions to visit, including its famous landmark the Cologne Cathedral. The city has a beautiful location on the River Rhine as well as its cultural and art scene which is worth checking out. Visitors should also visit the historic Rathaus and the popular Chocolate Museum. A visit to Cologne though, is not complete without a sampling of Kölsch, the local beer of choice.
Cologne is not the German gay and lesbian capital for nothing. Every 10th inhabitant of Cologne claims to be attracted to members of their own sex. The locals are down to earth, communicative, optimistic and tolerant. Cologne’s cosmopolitan attitude allows for an easygoing life in the cathedral city. The main areas are The Bermuda Triangle which is located in the inner city and has a colourful mixed scene, and Heumarkt and Mühlenbach, which is the fetish and bear scene. Cologne has alot to offer the gay visitor and you will feel very welcome here. Women, walking hand in hand or male couples kissing in the street does not cause a stir. The enormous density of gay and lesbian bars – from cosy cafes and restaurants right up to stylish bars and clubs – shows how deeply ingrained the scene has become.
