About Brussels

The city of Brussels is Belgium’s capital and is best known for being at the heart of the European Union. Brussels is synonymous with the Grand-Place, warm waffles, pralines, the famous landmark Manneken-Pis, generous beers and precious lace. Brussels has alot to offer its visitor including its charm and the history of its people. From primitive Flemish paintings to the most beautiful collection of musical instruments in the world, as well as the remains of the Palace of Charles V to the Art Deco or Art Nouveau lines of Victor Horta, the list is long! The historic city centre also has an abundance of fascinating cul-de-sacs and arcades with their very own special atmosphere, stylish boutiques and pleasant cafe terraces where you can sit and wonder at this beautiful city.
Belgium used to have a very conservative attitude towards gays and lesbians, but that has all changed. Now gays and lesbians in Belgium have a higher gay self-confidence and better legal rights than many other European countries. Many of Brussels’ gay bars, clubs, saunas and shops are located in the city centre along and around the street Rue du Marché au Charbon / Kolenmarkt, very close to many other shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. The gay club night life here is one of the best in Europe and attracts guys from Belgium’s neighbours; France, Germany and the Netherlands as well as from other countries.
All hotels listed are gay-friendly, we’ve listed some of the best gay venues and tried to offer you some of the best restaurants, which in Brussels, are all gay-friendly.
