About Cartagena
Hot, sultry, filled with the sounds of music and bright with colour and tradition, Cartagena de Indias has been an important port on the Caribbean since it was founded in 1533. Cartagena still draws interest, but from tourists who come to enjoy the history, the sights, the weather and the nightlife.
Unfortunately there is not really a gay scent to talk about. It is relatively gay friendly, but there are only a few bars. If your looking for a bigger scene then your better off heading to Bogotá

Cartagena Arts, Culture and Leisure

This mansion was the home of the former President lawyer and poet.He wrote the words of Colombia’s national anthem.The wooden mansion is now a museum.The chapel opposite the house (Ermita del Cabrero) holds his ashes.

Las Bóvedas
These are 23 dungeons built between 1792 and 1796 in the city walls. The vaults were used by the Spaniards as store rooms for munitions. During the republican era they were turned into a jail. The dungeons are now a little museum.
