About Canberra

Canberra is the capital of Australia and its largest inland city and 8th largest overall. It’s situated 93 miles inland from Australia’s east coast. It’s an entirely purpose built and planned city, with many areas of natural vegetation, earning it the title ‘Bush Capital’. It’s the seat of the Australian Government and the site of Parliament House and other Government buildings. Canberra is full of fantastic experiences for visitors. This modern city offers fun for all, with a busy calendar of events and festivals, as well as stylish restaurants, bars and shops.
Canberra is not known for a high-profile gay and lesbian community, but is does have a small but happy little gay scene. There’s not many gay venues here, but you can be assured of gay-friendly venues, restaurants and cafes. It hosts its annual SpringOUT festival during 3 weeks of October.
