About Singapore

Singapore

Singapore has a huge range of Asian influences and a few colonial leftovers. It has a great variety of bars and restaurants. Quick and easy to get around due to its size.

Homosexual sex is illegal in Singapore under section 377A and penalties for crimes relating to homosexual acts is up to 2 years in jail. Singapore is basically a conservative society – it was only in 2007 that oral sex between heterosexuals was decriminalised! Like most countries today, they have an annual LGBT parade – known as PINK DOT – which was first held in 2005. They are hoping to change the laws so that LGBT people can express their love just like any other Singaporean! Despite the sexual act still being outlawed, people are becoming more tolerant in their attitudes towards gay people. There is a vibrant gay scene in Singapore, which is mostly concentrated in the Chinatown area. We have listed a few gay, gay-friendly or gay-owned venues. A couple of the hotels listed are gay-friendly, but remember, it’s still advisable to be discreet about your sexuality due to the nature of Singaporean society – holding hands and kissing in public is not acceptable! Watch this space – we will keep you up to date of any changes made to the laws in Singapore. If you come across any places worth mentioning, feel free to contact us and we’ll get them listed.
