About Acapulco

Acapulco (officially known as Acapulco de Juárez) is a city and major sea port in the state of Guerrero on the Pacific coast of Mexico, 190 miles southwest of Mexico City is one Mexico ’s most important and famous beach resorts. The view of Acapulco Bay, framed by mountains and beaches, is breathtaking day or night. It has world-class resorts, which are often much less expensive than comparable hotels elsewhere. Though most beach resorts are made for relaxing, Acapulco offers nonstop, 24-hours-a-day energy. The city’s unbeatable nightlife offers one of the hottest playgrounds among Mexican vacation destinations.
Famed as one of the most liberal countries in Latin America, Mexico has a strong gay community. Acapulco is very gay tolerant. It was home to Mexico’s first legitimate Gay Bar, and gay people have always felt very welcome here. It has a good choice of Gay Bars and Clubs, which mostly cater for the gay men with male strippers performing. It’s such a gay-friendly place, you should be welcome everywhere.

These cliffs are home to the dare devil cliff divers. High divers perform each day – 12.45 7.30 8.30 9.30 10.30pm. Divers are famous in the city and honoured for their profession. This is the quintessential Acapulco experience. Admission $3.50

Fort of San Diego
Fort of San Diego is Acapulco’s most relevant historic monument. Original fort built in 1616 to protect the town from pirate attacks. Fort you see today rebuilt after earthquake damage in 1776. Houses the Acapulco Historical Museum (also listed).
